A North African desert town is transformed by the arrival of a foreign film crew, whose fabulous sets evoke the dreamscapes of Sheherazade. The inhabitants become exotic extras, unable to recognize themselves or their village as the once-familiar landscape undergoes "cosmetic surgery" to enhance the "face" of Islam.
